28 Nov (NucNet): Scientists might have been wrong about the kind of explosions at the Chernobyl nuclear power station during the world’s worst nuclear disaster, a new study claims. Rather than being triggered by what is commonly believed to have been a steam explosion, a paper published in the journal Nuclear Technology suggests the first blast at Unit 4 in the early hours of 26 April 1986 was in fact a nuclear one.
